~ Mark your calendars for our annual Teacher Appreciation Week ~
Now more than ever our teachers need our support, understanding and patience. We are all going through a learning process as we navigate the new world of home learning and teaching. You are not alone and it is challenging for EVERYONE.
Let’s spread smiles and happiness among our teachers and staff! HMS PTA typically hosts a week of events with luncheons, muffins etc but given the current situation we have to get creative. We will provide each staff member with an appreciation treat of some kind during Teacher Appreciation week. We’d love for you to join the fun during the week of May 4th- May 8th. You can email your teachers a token of appreciation. Anything from a short video, a picture, a heartfelt note to a small digital gift card, etc. There are so many ways you can thank a teacher and know a simple note of “thanks” can brighten their day.

To our 8th Graders,
Your final year at the Hive is coming to a close and we hope you look back on your time with us with fond memories and big smiles. Stay focused, stay determined, stay honest and stay true to yourself. If you do, everything else will fall into place. We are proud of each and every one of you and wish you the best as you enter the next phase of your journey.

This year did not end the way we had planned. Our students are missing out on dances, spring athletics, yearbook signings, end of year ceremonies etc. We share in their disappointment and sadness. As hard as it is to keep hope and stay positive, we must; for ourselves and each other. Life is full of obstacles, from disappointments to struggles. It is how we handle these things that defines us. By taking one obstacle at a time, one day at a time even one assignment at a time, we can come back to the Hive stronger and with a clearer vision of appreciation, kindness, accomplishment and a drive. A drive to be the best version of ourselves and to accomplish our biggest goals. Stay strong. Stay Focused, Stay educated.

Our last general meeting of the school year is scheduled May 15th @ 7pm.
Given current circumstances and the need to keep everyone safe the meeting will take place via Zoom. The link to the meeting will be posted on our Facebook page on May 15th.

~ Fundraising Fun ~
Your PTA membership helps our PTA do wonderful things for our Hornets. You do NOT have to be on the Board or Volunteer for anything if you do not want to. Think of it as a way of helping from behind the scenes. The cost is $8 for parents / staff & community members & $5 for students. $4.50 goes to Texas PTA and the rest to HMS. Want to be involved – be on the BOARD, help out certain Board Members, volunteer at events or maybe just donate food and drinks occasionally? Being involved is the BEST way to help you feel connected. Now is a great time to start planning for next year and how you can get involved. Parent volunteers are a huge resource & offer terrific support for the school & PTA and we appreciate your time and effort.
NOTE: To volunteer at the school / at an event – you MUST complete a volunteer background check. Click here- RRISD Volunteer Form
The final step after you fill out the online form is to present your drivers license to the front office and sign in as “VOLUNTEER” and print your badge.
Take Note- Starting late August RRISD will email and post a link for their annual volunteer background check link. Please understand that every school year RRISD requires a new background check to be completed.

🤔Missing Something? 🤔 Don’t let another day go by without checking our Lost and Found area! The Lost & Found is cleaned out every 2 wks and unclaimed items are donated to the RRISD Clothes Closet.
